Another day, another word from my own alpine syllabary. Stiç is the evocative word we use in Friuli-Venezia Giulia to describe the perfume of embers. It’s the scent that, near a fire, sticks on you in a minute and lingers in your memory forever.
Inspired by a book, I’ve decided to write my own alpine syllabary to list all the words that I love about mountains. The first word is fumade, the Friulan word which describes mountain fog.
On Valentine’s Day, I take you where I fell in love with mountains. The hike to Rifugio Zacchi and Fusine lakes made me understand that the world is beautiful no matter how you feel.
